Aquib Nabi, Vanshaj Sharma Star as J&K Beat Hyderabad by 3 Wickets in Ranji Trophy Match

 An outstanding all-round performance by Aquib Nabi, well supported by Vanshaj Sharma, guided Jammu and Kashmir to a convincing three-wicket victory over Hyderabad in their Ranji Trophy Elite Group match played here on Wednesday.

Earlier, put in to bat, Hyderabad posted 268 for 9 in the stipulated 50 overs. Aman Rao top-scored with 60 runs, while Nitesh Reddy played a vital unbeaten knock of 54. For Jammu and Kashmir, Aquib Nabi was the standout bowler, claiming 3 wickets for 56 runs in his 10 overs. Abid Mushtaq picked up two wickets, while Vanshaj Sharma, Abid Mushtaq and Yudhvir Singh chipped in with one wicket each.

In reply, J&K put up a strong batting display to chase down the target in 47.5 overs. Aquib Nabi played a masterclass innings, smashing 114 runs off just 82 balls, including 10 fours and seven sixes. Vanshaj Sharma provided excellent support with a composed unbeaten 69 off 78 balls, laced with seven fours and three sixes.

For Hyderabad, Mohammed Siraj and C V Milind took two wickets apiece but were unable to stem the flow of runs.

Aquib Nabi was adjudged Player of the Match for his exceptional all-round performance.

Praising the players, Brigadier Anil Gupta, Member Administration of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), said, ā€œAquib Nabi has proved that champions are made of different stuff. He was well supported by Vanshaj, who played a patient and responsible unbeaten half-century.ā€

The victory further strengthens Jammu and Kashmir’s campaign in the Ranji Trophy Elite Group.
